A look at the NBA season

There have been a lot of interesting happenings in the NBA offseason, as guys are getting traded, changing teams, and all with only a few weeks or time before the season begins. The lockout only allows for a few weeks before the season opener on Christmas day, which is not leaving teams with a lot of preseason time to gel. This could definitely make for some sloppy play early in the season as teams get used to each other and the systems they are in.

The biggest move this NBA offseason was the dealing of Chris Paul from the New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers. He is the best PG in the NBA, and one of the best playmakers in the history of the league. It will be a lot of fun to watch him pick-and-roll and throw alley oops to Blake Griffin. That will be one of the must-see teams in the NBA this season. How far the Clips can go will depend on Paul's health, as he is a guy that has battled knee injuries in the past. If he can stay healthy, the Clippers will be a tough team to play against. They would be an interesting team to do some TopBet sports betting on.

One of the biggest differences will be the schedule. They will play 66 games, but it will be in a shortened time frame. That means you could see teams playing 3 games in 3 nights, or as many as 7 games in only 9 days. This could definitely wear on a lot of teams, especially older ballclubs. This could provide opoportunities for younger, deeper teams to be better than expected, even if they don't have a lot of star power. That will be an interesting dynamic to watch in the NBA this season.

NFL Offers Plenty to Look Forward To

As good as the NFL has been so far in the first half of the sports betting season it figures to only get better as there are some intriguing possibilities that loom ahead to make for outstanding opportunities for all fans.

After a horrendous 0-3 start the Kansas City Chiefs won 4 consecutive games to earn a tie for first place in the AFC West Division. Kansas City has two winnable home games ahead against the last place Denver Broncos and last place Miami Dolphins before a brutal Sunday Night road test at New England against Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli was Belichick’s right hand personnel man at New England to add to the potential fireworks.

The Buffalo Bills have taken the town by storm as they are the surprise leaders of the AFC East Division with a record of 5-2 straight up and 4-2-1 against the spread. Buffalo hosts the team favored to win their division, the New York Jets, on November 6 before a make or break three game road trip at the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and ending with a rematch at the New York Jets. If Buffalo can withstand that November lineup of games they stand a real chance of pulling off one of the biggest single season turnarounds in recent history.

Speaking of turn around sports betting campaigns, the San Francisco 49ers merit a mention as they are 6-1 straight up and 6-0-1 against the spread as they are breaking away from the pack in the NFC West. First year coach Jim Harbaugh has crafted a team in his image that can run, play defense, and manhandle opponents which is a style perfectly suited for the playoffs. The 49ers play the slumping Redskins on November 6th in Washington before coming home to host the NFC East leading New York Giants and the struggling Arizona Cardinals.

And as a reminder of sports betting matchups ahead, keep in mind what the then winless St. Louis Rams did to the New Orleans Saints on October 30 when they scored a 31-21 win as 13.5 point home dogs. This was a great lesson on how anything can truly happen in pro football and that nothing can be taken for granted. The big question now is if St. Louis can sustain momentum with back to back road games at Arizona and at Cleveland.

Quinn will almost certainly be the first or second QB taken in the NFL Draft, depending on whether a team picking a QB prefers a more seasoned Quinn or the more "toolsy" JaMarcus Russell. Either way, Quinn projects to be a very solid NFL QB.

The Best High School Football Game Ever

It's the end of a high school football game from 1994 between Plano East and John Tyler High... really, there's no words I can use to describe the awesomeness, not only of the highlights themselves but of the announcers reactions to everything. Personally, I love the NCAA Tournament more than anything else, and a big part is the thought that anything can happen, and quite often usually does. Oftentimes the exciting part is the little guy hitting the game-winner to beat the favorite, but in this case it was Chris Lofton of the 2nd seeded Tennessee Volunteers taking out the 15th seeded Winthrop Eagles with his game-winner with 0.4 seconds left to end the Winthrop dream in the first round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament.

With the NFL Draft a few months away, I'll probably be posting some of these highlight videos, because it's just interesting to see what the next wave of college players are capable of. A few days ago I post the Ted Ginn Highlight Video, today its Adrian "AD" Peterson. Peterson is the top running back in the draft and should be among the top 10 selections in April. He's had some injury problems but he's a great RB prospect.

Here's just a nice compilation video of Larry Bird and some of his great plays. Bird was one of the best and most interesting players to watch because he truly had the all-around game. He was an incredible shooter, good rebounder, great passer, and crafty defender. Definitely one of the top 5 players to ever play in the NBA.

Best Goal Ever

I admittedly don't really like hockey at all, but this video was too good not to post. About a week ago in a game, Patrick Stefan, who plays for the Dallas Stars, had a shot at an open net goal towards the end of the game that would have given Dallas the 2-goal lead. He missed it. After the miss, the Edmonton Oilers got the puck up the ice, and Ales Hemsky scored the game-tying goal with 2 seconds remaining for Edmonton. One of the wackiest plays I've ever seen.

As you probably heard a little something about, Florida won the BCS National Championship game last night, so i figured it was appropriate to post the "One Shining Moment" video from last year's NCAA Basketball Tournament, also, of course, won by the Florida Gators. These videos are another great part of the NCAA Tournament... a nice 3 to 4 minute clip with lots of good highlights from the Tourney. Really an excellent way to conclude the Tournament.

Welcome Earthlings

Hello everyone! You may know me as the writer of Complete Sports and Thank You Brian Sabean, but this is an idea I had that is a little different.

All the time I come across cool sports videos, either stuff someone has put together, or just videos of past sports events where it's fun to look at the video again. In the past I've just posted some of these on those other blogs, but I try not to do it too often. However, there's still obviously lots of stuff I'd like to post because I found it interesting, which leads to the creation of this blog.

So, I'll try to get up a different video I find interesting each day, and hopefully others will enjoy them as much as I do. If not, well, you suck. Just kidding. But seriously, hopefully you enjoy them.
